HowSecret Democratic SocietyHolding a "secret democracratic" anything gives grounds for a new favorite oxymoron. Holding secrets and being democratic do not mix. Those who work with a sincere effort to improving moment-to-moment democracy do not generally understand secrets or the scope of a particular secret. Perhaps it's simply better not to tell any secrets. E-VOTING RESPONSIBILITIES unclear in real worldIt is unclear which part of government will be responsible for the funding and procurement of electronic voting technology. Local, regional, state and national bodies have a roles but no clear responsibilities. Various citizens and smart interest groups need to make discussions with the authorities so as to uncover a range of solutions. The bodies in charge of organising national and local ballots and recent pioneers of electronic voting need focus. |
