The software, eVote, adds polls (including elections) and petitions, the essential tools of democracy, to any discussion list hosted on Mailman or Majodomo. The add-on package, eVote, handles everything automatically using email messages for users who read English, Spanish, or French.

Any list member can generate a poll. eVote supports several options of tallying and report results automatically, including numeric, yes/no polls, and collecting signatures on petitions. The reports can be configured poll-by-poll to optionally include who voted and how they voted, and be published as votes come in or as a final tally.
